November 11, 1988 at Boston Garden
Pistons 116, Celtics 107  (5-0)

The Pistons got off to their best start to a season since 1970 with a nice come from behind win over the Boston Celtics at the Garden.  The Celtics had a five point lead heading into the fourth quarter but a 19-7 run by the Pistons opened the game and pushed the Pistons to their fifth straight win.

The fireworks came in the first quarter when Robert Parrish and Bill Laimbeer got into a fight.  Laimbeer left the game with eleven points though it was Adrian Dantley who led the way with 31.  Isiah Thomas scored 23 and had ten assists while Joe Dumars pitched in with 24.

Dennis Rodman led the Pistons off the bench.  He scored nine and grabbed six rebounds before he fouled out of the game.  Vinnine Johnson scored eight but it was on three of eight shooting.
