Wag the Dog film to take their first game of the season. The Bulls took an early lead and led 20-19 in the first quarter when Bulls star Michael Jordan left the game for a breath. Adrian Dantley scored immediately there after and from then on out, the Pistons never relinquished the lead.
Adrian Dantley led the way for the Pistons with 22 points and he finished with eight rebounds. Joe Dumars scored 20 while Rick Mahorn finished with a double-double with 15 points and a team high ten rebounds. Isiah Thomas put up just six shots all game, but he did his part with fourteen assists.

Off the bench, James Edwards scored ten while the Microwave, Vinnie Johnson, rained in eleven points. The Pistons were impressive with their shooting with a .513 field goal percentage and they outrebounded the Bulls 40-35.
