Pistons 101, Hawks 95 (4-0)
The Pistons needed an extra period in this one but the end result was their fourth consecutive win to open up the season. Isiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman both scored four in overtime to lock the game up but this was a nailbiter for Pistons fans because going into the fourth quarter, the Hawks led by 12. Fortunately, the Pistons opened the fourth with a 13-2 run and they eventually tied the game with 1:59 lef.
Psycho Isiah Thomas led the way with 21 points, and eighteen of those came after halftime. He also pitched in with twelve assists and he stole the ball three times. Bill Laimbeer walked away with thirteen rebounds, three of which came on the offensive glass.
Once again, the bench came up big. John Salley and Dennis Rodman both eight rebounds while Vinnie Johnson scored eighteen. Dennis Rodman also had a team high three blocked shots and he ended up spending more time on the floor then all of the Pistons with the exception of Joe Dumars and Isiah Thomas.
