Defense went out the window in this one as the Pistons gave up a then season high 133 points to the New York Knicks. Patrick Ewing in particular took the Pistons to task with 37 points and all five Knicks starters scored at least a dozen each.
The Pistons guard duo had a tough time in this one. Joe Dumars scored just five points while Isiah Thomas scored 12. Adrian Dantley led all Pistons with 25 and Bill Laimbeer pitched in with 20.
John Salley and Vinnie Johnson both scored sixteen off the bench. Dennis Rodman scored seven and grabbed nine rebounds.

Pistons 99, Hornets 93 (9-1) One Point O full
Nocturna full The Pistons got right back to winning as they took care of the Hornets on the road. Isiah Thomas had a rough game and scored just six points on two for ten from the floor but Joe Dumars picked up the slack. He scored a team high 26 and also grabbed four rebounds and had five assists. Bill Laimbeer pitched in with nineteen points and nine rebounds while Rick Mahorn scored ten and grabbed ten boards. Adrian Dantley scored six in his first game back after the elbow from Mark Aguirre.
Dennis Rodman had an exceptional game off the bench. He scored twelve and grabbed nine rebounds. Of the nine boards, six came on the offensive end. Vinnie Johnson scored thirteen although it wasn’t for lack of trying. He was six for seventeen, and those seventeen shots were more then any other Piston.
November 19, 1988 at The Summit
Rockets 109, Pistons 98 (8-1)
The Pistons knew they couldn’t win them all and Hakeem Olajuwon was just too much for Detroit. The Pistons had a three point lead on the Rockets early in the fourth quarter but an eight point run by Houston put the game away.
Back to the Future download Isiah Thomas led the Pistons with 26 points and his six assists were also a team high. Dennis Rodman had a good day on the glass and played the bulk of the game. He put in 45 minutes, grabbed twelve rebounds of which five came on the offensive glass, and scored seven points.

The Pistons continued their undefeated start to the season with their best offensive game to date. Isiah Thomas had a big game with 30 points and twelve assists while Joe Dumars had a team high 31 on ten of 16 shooting. Even Vinnie Johnson got in on the action and while he scored just six, he did pitch in with five assists.
Dennis Rodman grabbed a team high twelve rebounds as he got the start in place of the injured Adrian Dantley. He scored twelve while Bill Laimbeer scored fifteen and had five rebounds and four steals.
James Edwards led the way off the bench. He scored twelve and had four boards. Rookie Fennis Dembo saw his first time on the court and he scored four.

Pistons 94, Spurs 88 (7-0) Highlander II: The Quickening move
The Pistons continued their perfect season with a tight win over the San Antonio Spurs. Joe Dumars led all Pistons with 20 points while Rick Mahorn grabbed ten rebounds. Dennis Rodman scored 10 and grabbed six rebounds as he got the start in place of the injured Adrian Dantley.
John Salley scored ten and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench. James Edwards scored ten as well and he was one of six Pistons to score in double figures.
November 15, 1988 at Reunion Arena
Pistons 108, Mavericks 99 (6-0)
The Pistons won and the Cleveland Cavaliers lost and that left the Pistons as the lone unbeaten team in the NBA when they beat the Dallas Mavericks. Still, the Pistons suffered a loss when Mark Aguire applied a vicious elbow on Adrian Dantley in the opening minutes of the game. Dantley ended up in the hospital and he had a severely cut lip and three loosened teeth. Ironically, it’d be Mark Aguire that the Pistons would acquire for Dantley later in the season.
Bill Laimbeer had a huge game. He scored 23 and brought home 21 rebounds. Isiah Thomas scored ten and had twelve assists while Joe Dumars scored 16.
Show Stoppers movie full James Edwards led the bench warriors. He scored 17 while John Salley scored fourteen. Dennis Rodman had nice points and he pulled in eight rebounds.
As a team, the Pistons put up some impressive numbers. They had 33 assists to go with just three turnovers and the outrebounded the Mavericks 47-33. The Pistons shot .570 from the field and held Dallas to .413.
November 11, 1988 at Boston Garden
Pistons 116, Celtics 107 (5-0)
Ratatouille movie full The Pistons got off to their best start to a season since 1970 with a nice come from behind win over the Boston Celtics at the Garden. The Celtics had a five point lead heading into the fourth quarter but a 19-7 run by the Pistons opened the game and pushed the Pistons to their fifth straight win.
The fireworks came in the first quarter when Robert Parrish and Bill Laimbeer got into a fight. Laimbeer left the game with eleven points though it was Adrian Dantley who led the way with 31. Isiah Thomas scored 23 and had ten assists while Joe Dumars pitched in with 24.
Dennis Rodman led the Pistons off the bench. He scored nine and grabbed six rebounds before he fouled out of the game. Vinnine Johnson scored eight but it was on three of eight shooting.
November 9, 1988 at The Palace
Pistons 101, Hawks 95 (4-0)
The Pistons needed an extra period in this one but the end result was their fourth consecutive win to open up the season. Isiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman both scored four in overtime to lock the game up but this was a nailbiter for Pistons fans because going into the fourth quarter, the Hawks led by 12. Fortunately, the Pistons opened the fourth with a 13-2 run and they eventually tied the game with 1:59 lef.
Psycho Isiah Thomas led the way with 21 points, and eighteen of those came after halftime. He also pitched in with twelve assists and he stole the ball three times. Bill Laimbeer walked away with thirteen rebounds, three of which came on the offensive glass.
Once again, the bench came up big. John Salley and Dennis Rodman both eight rebounds while Vinnie Johnson scored eighteen. Dennis Rodman also had a team high three blocked shots and he ended up spending more time on the floor then all of the Pistons with the exception of Joe Dumars and Isiah Thomas.
November 8, 1988 at The Spectrum
Pistons 116, 76ers 109 (3-0)
The Pistons took care of business and Joe Dumars rained home 30 as the Pistons won their third straight to open the season. The 30 points for Dumars was a career high at the time and he also matched Isiah Thomas with nine assists. Adrian Dantley was next in the food chain with 23 points while Bill Laimbeer had a team high eleven rebounds.
The Pistons really got some help from the bench in this one. James Edwards scored 18 and that was one more point then the entire Philadelphia 76ers bench. The Microwave, Vinnie Johnson, was eight for thirteen from the field and he heated up and scored seventeen.
This game was a little closer then the scored indicated. The 76ers cut it to a four point game with 1:25 left, but Dumars hit a pair of free throws and Dennis Rodman scored a layup to put the nail in the coffin. The Pistons were particulary impressive in the first half in this game and they shot 63.6% from the field. Overall in the game, they shot at a 56% clip.
November 5, 1988 at the Palace

There were plenty of festivities as the Pistons played their first ever home game at their new stadium, the Palace of Auburn Hills. The Pistons also got a chance to see their previous seasons’ exploits honored when they raised both the Central Division title and Eastern Conference Championship banners into the rafters. It was the first titles that the Pistons had won since the team moved from Fort Wayne, IN.
The Pistons big quarter was the third when they outscored the Hornets 26-16. Adrian Dantley led the way for the second straight game and he scored eighteen points. Isiah Thomas was right behind him with 15 and he matched Joe Dumars with a team high seven assists. Three different Pistons had double figures in rebounds. Bill Laimbeer had a team high twelve, Rick Mahorn had eleven and Dennis Rodman had ten off the bench.
Defense was the name of the game in this one. The Pistons held the Hornets to just .347, while they were over 50% (.521) for the second straight game. The 2-0 start marks the first time that the team won their first two games since Chuck Daly took over as head coach in 1983.
Wag the Dog film to take their first game of the season. The Bulls took an early lead and led 20-19 in the first quarter when Bulls star Michael Jordan left the game for a breath. Adrian Dantley scored immediately there after and from then on out, the Pistons never relinquished the lead.
Adrian Dantley led the way for the Pistons with 22 points and he finished with eight rebounds. Joe Dumars scored 20 while Rick Mahorn finished with a double-double with 15 points and a team high ten rebounds. Isiah Thomas put up just six shots all game, but he did his part with fourteen assists.
Off the bench, James Edwards scored ten while the Microwave, Vinnie Johnson, rained in eleven points. The Pistons were impressive with their shooting with a .513 field goal percentage and they outrebounded the Bulls 40-35.
